??FEMA: Hurricane Irene Flood Insurance Claims Hotline to Close 12/9
Hurricane Irene survivors with questions about flood insurance claims have until December 9, 2011 to call a toll-free hotline.The Hurricane Irene Flood Insurance Claims Hotline will be open from 7:30 AM to noon on Saturday, December 3, and 7:30 AM to 5 PM Monday, December 5, through Friday, December 9. The hotline number is 855-336-2002.
The hotline is staffed by flood insurance specialists who can answer questions about the flood insurance claim process. Staffers can take requests for reinspection and offer guidance on the steps necessary to settle a claim.
When flood insurance policy holders call, they should have on hand the following information: Name of insurance company Flood insurance policy number Name and telephone number of the insurance agent Name and telephone number of the insurance adjuster
After the hotline closes, National Flood Insurance Program policy holders should call their insurance agent or carrier if they have questions about their claim. They may also go online to www.floodsmart.gov or call 888-379-9531.
The deadline for filing proof of loss statements related to Hurricane Irene remains January 23, 2012. A proof of loss is required before a policyholder can receive payment of the flood insurance claim.
The deadline was extended by the National Flood Insurance Program in North Carolina and 14 other states as well as the District of Columbia because some NFIP policyholders were encountering difficulties filing proofs of loss.

FEMA?s temporary housing assistance and grants for public transportation expenses, medical and dental expenses, and funeral and burial expenses do not require individuals to apply for an SBA loan. However, applicants who receive SBA loan applications must submit them to SBA loan officers to be eligible for assistance that covers personal property, vehicle repair or replacement, and moving and storage expenses.
